colorado landscape artwork- Colorado Meadow Morning by Ellen Leigh

Painting in progress

Today, I was able to spend quite a bit of time in the studio, completely absorbed in my work. I didn’t photograph after every step, but have a couple of new landscape painting steps to show you how things are progressing.

OK, this is where I left off yesterday, the above photo. I added it to this post for comparison to today’s work.

Landscape painting steps- details added to the meadow
Much of the morning , I spent working on the meadow- adding in some additional shadows, plus some shrubs along the river. I also spent some time softening and shading the tree line on the upper left of the painting to add depth and make it less important in the composition. You can also see I’ve added leaves to the trees to the right and left.
Landscape painting steps- details and depth to clear water in foreground
Beginning to work on the foreground, the river, rocks along the bank. Loving how the sun sparkles across the water and onto the rocks before kissing the grasses and shrubs good morning.
Still some work to be done on this, but it’s really looking good to me- What do you think??
