Someone’s in the Kitchen, part two

I was finally able to get back to a recent project I did using some blue and gold decor ideas and get some photographs of the completed work this past week-end. The homeowner had their furniture and window valances reupholstered while I was working on the walls, and that work took a bit longer than anticipated. You can read about the beginning stages of planning the work here:

The wall treatment above is Valspar’s Tuscan Accents. I’ve used it a couple of times now, and it really gives impressive results using just one product over a special base-coat. The color range is lovely, I see lots of possibilities with the product. I picked up the full range of samples, so if you are interested, give me a call.
(sadly, the product has now been discontinued)
Breakfast Area

In the breakfast area and kitchen, I troweled on a rough coat of joint compound below where I planned on installing the chair rail, primed and base-coated above and below in a soft beige before color washing the two areas the shades you see here. The full height back-splash in the kitchen got the same troweled texture and color to coordinate with the laminate top. You can see the deep gold candlelight finish of the foyer through the archway to the right, and the solid shade of gold used in the back entry to the left.

The rooms really turned out wonderfully, it was great to see my clients again. It was great to see that the initial vision I had in my mind of how the rooms would look when completed was very accurate. The blue and gold decor flows from one room into another creating a warm and inviting look throughout. I deeply appreciate that they trusted me with their home, and that they love how it turned out.

My vision

Quite a difference from plain off white walls, eh?

  1. Unfortunately the line has been discontinued, and I am bummed about it. I have a few of their sample swatches sitting around, so perhaps the colors could still be mixed. In my experience the stuff I got mixed wasn’t an exact match to the sample (not even close) so I ended up tweaking the colors myself anyhoo. The tint goes only in the top coat, if you are experienced you could try tinting it yourself to get any color you’d like. For color swatches, maybe they are available on the Valspar web site? Otherwise maybe something can be worked out to get at least my now useless samples to you. Let me know.

  2. I was recently able to purchase several cans of Tuscan Accents base and top coat. The problem: no one has the color samples to show the tint options. Do you have a picture or images of theses samples? I would greatly appreciate it if you could share.
