A Castle fit for a Princess

What little princess would not love to have her own castle on her bedroom wall?

Sweet little Grace was the lucky little girl to get this fairy tale princess castle mural on her wall. Now ladies- wouldn’t you have loved having a room like this when you were small?

I first met with Grace’s mom back at the end of January about this project. We discussed ideas for this room and little Benjamin’s room and decided on a budget for both rooms. Additionally, both bedrooms were to be painted as part of a much larger home remodeling project, so we also selected wall colors for the rooms and set a tentative completion date.

After agreeing on a price, we exchanged e-mails a few times with images of ideas to combine for the right look. Below is the magical fairy tale princess castle mural I painted this past week for little Princess Grace.

When I paint rooms for children so young, I try to keep in mind how fast they grow. All too soon, this two year old little girl will be heading off to grade school. I want her to be able to enjoy this room well into her teen years.

Meanwhile, across the hall, baby brother Benjamin needed a touch of special for his room. Taking color cues from his bedding, I spelled out his name boldly on the wall, adding just simple stitching around each letter for a bit of detail. It’s a simple idea, but one that will grow with him into toddler-hood and beyond.
