Attention to detail ~ceiling medallion

Little things can make a big impact. This project was referred to me by a local interior designer- the client purchased a new chandelier for their dining room, had a plaster ceiling medallion that had been there for years, and would like it painted to match the new fixture before it was installed. I went out for a consultation, figured out how to achieve the look and made arrangements to come back and do the work.

What a glow!

The ceiling medallion was originally painted with the same paint as the ceiling, so I had to lay on a deep, near black brown as a base color, dry that, then apply the gold paint that matched the antique brass canopy to the fixture. The deep detail on the plaster was a bit of a challenge to get paint into, but was extremely important- no do-overs allowed. Dry brushing on the gold brought out all of the beautiful detail in the ceiling medallion. I’m sure once the fixture goes up, the whole look will be drop-dead gorgeous, lots of bling.
